The date of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) for the year 2013 was announced in the second week of August 2012. The GATE is scheduled to be held in the month of January/February 2013.

Good news seems to be ringing for women. With the new implementations, from 2013 onwards, women aspirants would not have to pay any fees relating to the test. Also, all the grievances  will be redressed on a single online applicant interface.

Qualification & Eligibility for GATE-2013

• Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.

• Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programmes..

• Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology

• Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master’s degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology

• Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

• Pre-final year students are not eligible to write GATE 2013-14. 

• DIPLOMA HOLDERS IN ENGINEERING ARE NOT ELIGIBLE.

Whats New in GATE-2013

• 15 subject papers will be conducted by an ONLINE computer based test: AE, AG, AR, BT, CE, CH, CY, GG, MA, MN, MT, PH, TF, XE, and XL. Like the previous year the online examination will also contain a few questions where a numerical answer must be provided (instead of a choice from A,B,C,D).

• No Application Fee for female applicants

• All candidate related information and grievance redressal will be available in a single GATE Online Applicant Interface. (What is it?)

• Applicant photograph and signature must be uploaded during online application.

• A new formula will be used for calculating the GATE score.

• Biometric information (Photograph and fingerprint) maybe captured before the examination for randomly selected candidates.

How to Apply:

• ONLINE:  For GATE 2013, as in GATE 2012, candidates need to register and fill the application ONLINE only by accessing the zonal GATE websites of IISc and seven IITs. 
• The application process is complete only when a print out of the filled ONLINE application with the candidate signature and a good quality photo affixed in the appropriate place is received by the respective GATE office along with necessary documents, if any, on or before 8 October 2012. 
• Please note that application forms are NOT available for sale anywhere

FEE:
•  1200 for General/OBC male applicants and
•  600 for SC/ST/PD male applicants.
• Validity of GATE 2013 score will be for a period of TWO YEARS from the date of announcement of results.
• No Application Fee for female applicants

Important Dates of GATE -2013

•    Starting of receipt of online application: 1 September 2012.
•    End date for online submission of application: 30 September 2012
•    End date for receipt of printed version of application : 8 October 2012
•    GATE exam 2013 (for specific papers) : 20 January 2013, 10 February 2013

Gate 2013 notification is out or is going to be out Main points :

16 streams will be conducted Online.
• ( Online papers: AE, AG, AR, BT, CE, CH, CY, GG, MA, MN, MT, PH, TF, XE, and XL; Offline papers: CS, EC, EE, IN , ME, and PI )
• Only 6 streams will be conducted Offline.
  ( Offline papers: CS, EC, EE, IN , ME, and PI) .

EXAM PATERN, SYLLABUS, PAPERS, SOLUTIONS, BOOKS etc. 

SOLUTION of GATE 2013 will be uploaded same day of examination.
