Eligibility Criteria:
Eligibility to participate:
- Contest is open for only students of classes 5th to 9th and Minimum candidates limit is 7 in a team.
Prizes and awards:
Prizes for winners:
- Top 3 schools: will be awarded with Gold certificates and Will get a set of 50 books. 2 teachers & 2 children get to participate in a day long workshop on stories in Chennai and also get to visit The Hindu in Chennai! A 'Day of Stories' in your school by our best storytellers!
- Next 10 schools: will be awarded with Silver certificates and will get a set of 25 books . 1 teacher and 1 child get to participate in a day long workshop on Stories in Chennai and also get to visit The Hindu in Chennai!
How to Apply or Register:
If you have not registered already, then here is what you have to do the following steps:
- Qualifier: As a group, interview your English teacher. Remember to ask about why she loves teaching English.
- Challenger: As a classroom, design a complete Storyboard page, similar to this page. Pick a good theme. Get creative!
- Coach Speak: Ask your English teacher to write a 250 word essay about memorable incidents from the classroom.
- Finale: Create a illustrated children's book of length between 10-20 pages. The best story gets the maximum points.
How to Participate:
Send an email to school@thehindu.co.in (Subject: Classroom of the year) with these details:
(a) your school name and address
(b) your class and section
(c) your English teacher's name and phone number
Once you have got the registration confirmation from us, put all the entries in an envelope and post them to the address mentioned in the registration confirmation email.
